By our urbanistic/architectonic solution, we wanted to tie up with the historical values of that location and the preserved structural artefacts from the past - represented by remnants of the mediaeval fortification system. Its inherent part were the watchtowers and the entry gates to the city, out of which the nearby Mäsiarska bašta (Butcher’s Bastion) was preserved. We have decided to tie up with those values and to mend the urbanistically broken space using the independent structural substance of the new hotel with the four equal facades, as if growing from the original fortification. In this way, the hotel will act as some reminiscence of the values of the past and at the same time as some small urbanistic block, which will clearly complete the front sides of the affected streets and the square with the monument of the Slovak National Uprising.
Therefore, the new Hotel would be named „Nová bašta“ (New Bastion).
