The planned construction site lies in the Ružinov-district, in the vicinity of the lake Štrkovecké jazero, in the local residential area built up in the 70s. The urbanistic/architectonic solution is based on the need to utilise the existing land parcel in the most economic way, while still respecting the conditions for bringing daylight and sunshine into the surrounding apartment houses. Our design of this built up area vitalises by its substance the surrounding space, offering an attractive view of the lake Štrkovecké jazero.
The architectonic goal of that selected concept was to create some interesting “substance”, which would not interfere with the scale of the environment. The house’s shaping is based on a geometric composition, where the orientation of the facades creates real proportional blocks with “cut-in” loggia-niches. In this way, the facade will exploit the impact-angles of the sunrays, playing with light and shadows. This concept gives birth to a new dynamic entity, acting as a green hill of receding terraces with growing bushes and herbs, showing different colours depending on the changing seasons. Therefore the name Monte Verde – i.e. green hill. The space/substance concept will be dominated by the tallest block in the north. In contrast to that main part of the building’s volume, the ground floor and the first floor form a simple horizontal tie.
